Three weeks ago John Mark had the privilege of attending Southeastern University’s Study Abroad launch party. It was three days of introducing the student body their study abroad programs. We were happy to have a booth that represented ENLACE’s Center for Community Transformation Study Abroad Program. John Mark was able to speak to various students in different classroom and conference like settings.
The highlight of the three days was the evening party where SEU set up a trade show like room with various booths that students could stop through to discuss with directors about their specific programs.
Here Emily explaining to a group of students what ENLACE’s Study Abroad program is all about.
[Daniel LeBlanc, Spring 2015 – “I studied with passionate, life-changing professors, went on field visits to experience poverty alleviation in practice, and jet skied inside a volcanic lake. While on your study abroad trip, ask yourself, ‘now that I’ve experienced what I experienced, and know what I know, what do I do?’ Live as a reflection of your study abroad: intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and vocationally engaging the world. I have been called and equipped to live in intimate, loving relationships with God, self, and others, especially those deepest in need.”]
Over 600 students came through the doors that evening to find out about all the programs SEU was offering them. It was so exciting to see our former students work the booth with John Mark. The interested students were handed brochures of our program and got to speak with former students about their own experience in El Salvador.

[Vonciel Bryant, Spring 2015 – “I am so grateful that I was able to spend my last semester in El Salvador before I graduated last May. Almost every day, my life is painted with remembrance of the experiences and the people that I met there. I hope that I can live a life honoring the deep, life-changing lessons that I learned on that trip.”]
Their personal testimonies of their time in El Salvador made all the difference in students signing up to receive more information. We are praying for our next group of students that will be coming to learn with ENLACE. We had 25 students show interest and we are beginning the process of contacting them to personally invite them to join us.
John Mark also got to have dinner with some of our SEU students that had come in the past. From left to right Chris, Kasey, Grant, John Mark, Emily, Mike, and Taylor, minus Vonciel, Daniel and Lauren who graduated. What a fun evening it was for them all to see each other and talk with John Mark. They all miss El Salvador and we miss them. We are so grateful for each of them. It is such a joy to keep in contact with them and hear their faith journey as they continue in their education.
Please pray with us as we are trusting God for a new group of undergraduate students to come and study with us in the spring. Please be praying for our master’s students who will be with us in January. We are always extremely excited when college students are with us as we know God has equipped each of us to serve them.
